The surrounding mountains and forests are also home to bears, rare birds and other wildlife. We later arrive at the central Dalmatian town of Zadar. Situated on a sheltered peninsula with a picturesque harbour, Zadar’s St. Donat church is the largest Byzantine building in Croatia.
