Eastern Extravaganza

Day 1 London, Niagara
We begin with Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service® to London Heathrow Airport and your scheduled Virgin Atlantic (2013 only) or British Airways direct flight to Toronto. On arrival our coach will transfer us to Clifton Victoria Inn on the Fall (was known as The Hampton Inn).
Please note: on 2014 departures, upon arrival, we transfer to the Sheraton Centre Hotel in Toronto for the next three nights.

Day 2 Niagara Falls
With the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the world, Niagara Falls is uniquely impressive. We dedicate a day to this natural wonder, presenting the chance to admire it from a host of different perspectives – from walkways, underground tunnels, one of the renowned Maid of the Mist boats, the observation deck of the nearby Skylon Tower or even (at extra cost) from a helicopter. Whichever you choose, the sight of millions of litres of the Niagara River plunging 50m, generating a colossal roar and a spray seen for miles, makes for memories to last a lifetime.

Day 3 Niagara, Toronto
Toronto is a friendly and engaging city with plenty to interest the visitor. Our city tour reveals a timeline of urban architecture, from splendidly restored 19th century buildings to ultramodern malls and 21st century skyscrapers. An optional excursion is then available to the top of the CN Tower, for a time the world’s tallest building, piercing the Toronto skyline to a height of 550m. There will be some free time to unwind in the lovely Harbourfront area, before we retire to the Sheraton Centre Hotel.

Day 4 Toronto, Ottawa
Our destination today is Canada’s striking capital, Ottawa, where an orientation tour includes a stop at the imposing Parliament Building, guarded by the instantly recognisable ‘Mounties’ – the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The remainder of the day is free.

Day 5 Ottawa, Montreal, Burlington
Travelling into francophone Canada, the province of Quebec, we arrive at the delightful city of Montreal, which combines the best of the North American lifestyle with the culture and sophistication of France. With an imaginative system of underground walkways and complexes, the city is a pleasure to discover in all weathers – take some time to see it for yourself, before rejoining the coach to continue the journey back into the United States, to Burlington and the Hampton Inn.

Day 6 Burlington, Keene
Vermont is one of the most picturesque and charming states in New England. It boasts the scenic splendour of Green Mountain National Forest and myriad delightful towns and villages including Woodstock, Plymouth and Old Bennington, where a traditional white clapboard church with three-tiered steeple fronts a cemetery in which the revolutionary founders of the state are buried.

Day 7 Keene, Boston
En route to Boston, we make stops at two significant battlefields – Concord, where the first shot of the War of Independence was fired, and Lexington, on whose peaceful green that war was also fought.
The most ‘English’ of American cities, it is perhaps ironic that the American Revolution against British rule began in Boston. Our city tour presents an insight into its history – the famous Boston Tea Party protest of 1770, the British siege of the city and the Battle of Bunker Hill, events which have earned it the moniker ‘Cradle of Liberty’. Our downtown hotel, the Omni Parker house, is ideally placed for discovering Boston’s buzzing dining and social scene.
Please note: For 2014 departures, tonight’s hotel will be the well located Boston Park Plaza.

Day 8 Boston
Make your own discoveries of Boston today – shopping, walking its cobbled streets, or simply appreciating its picturesque aspect in Massachusetts Bay.

Day 9 Boston, Mystic
We travel further back through American history this morning, breaking our drive to Mystic with a stop at Plymouth Rock, where the Pilgrim Fathers of the Mayflower were said to have landed in 1620 after a gruelling 66-day journey from Plymouth, England. We visit too Newport, the Rhode Island resort where the richest families of yesteryear built their mansions and estates. Our hotel in the lovely town of Mystic is the Hyatt Place.

Day 10 Mystic, New York
From Mystic, we travel through Connecticut to one of the world’s great cities, New York. Our hotel, the superb Roosevelt, is perfectly located for independent exploration, following an included city tour the remainder of the day is at leisure for you to take your own bites of the ‘Big Apple’.

Day 11 New York
Enjoy another day in the heart of New York, the extraordinary city so dear to generations of writers and film-makers from F Scott Fitzgerald to Woody Allen. Will you choose to savour the tranquillity of Central Park, visit iconic attractions such as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, admire the peerless exhibits of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, or hunt for bargains at the sensational department stores – Macy’s, Bloomingdales and Saks? Fans of classic cinema will recognise a host of locations, including 34th Street and the bar of the Plaza Hotel, from which Cary Grant’s character was kidnapped in North by Northwest. With a world of culinary possibilities, your tour manager will be happy to suggest memorable places to eat, and we can also pre-book tickets for a host of wonderful Broadway shows.

Day 12 New York, Philadelphia
With so much to experience in New York, you’ll appreciate a further morning there before we journey southwards to Philadelphia. Known as the ‘City of Brotherly Love’, cobbled streets lined with elegant red-brick Georgian buildings are delightful to explore on foot, or in one of the horse-drawn carriages available to hire. On display at Independence Hall is one of the world’s great icons of freedom, the Liberty Bell. Our hotel situated in the historic district is the Wyndham Philadelphia Hotel.

Day 13 Philadelphia, Washington DC
This morning we depart for Baltmore, a vibrant city attractively set on the shores of Chesapeake Bay famed for its small town charm, and then we continue to Washington DC, which followed Philadelphia as the nations capital, and where our hotel for two nights will be the Marriott Washington.

Day 14 Washington DC
The great museums and monuments of Washington DC are located within a remarkably compact area of the city, making it perfect to explore on foot. View the imposing Capitol Building, legislature of the federal government, with its distinctive white dome, the White House, home to every US president after George Washington, the Lincoln Memorial, dedicated to the 16th president and the site of Martin Luther King’s famous 1963 ‘I Have a Dream’ speech, and the towering obelisk Washington Monument, commemorated the fi rst president. Either side of the nearby National Mall are the great museums of the Smithsonian Institute, including the Air and Space Museum, which boasts exhibits from such as the Apollo 11 lunar module and landmark aircraft the Wright Flyer and the Spirit of St Louis. In the evening, we visit Georgetown, Washington DC’s fascinating historical district, with fine houses, shops and restaurants.

Day 15 Washington DC, London
Following an excursion to Mount Vernon, the mansion and estate idyllically set on the banks of the Potomac River which was for more than 40 years home to the United States’ first president, George Washington, we transfer to Washington DC Airport in time for a direct, scheduled British Airways or Virgin Atlantic (2013 only) flight to London.
