Magic of the Islands

Day 1 Dover
Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service® transports you from your front door to Dover, where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Braemar in readiness for a late afternoon sailing.

Days 2-3 At Sea
Time to familiarise yourself with all the amenities of your floating hotel. Enjoy two days cruising; check your daily programme of events, as there is always something to do, such as demonstrations, lectures and card competitions.

Day 4 Torshavn, Faroe Islands
This morning we arrive in Torshavn, the capital of the Faroe islands, situated on the southern tip of Streymoy, the largest of the islands in the archipelago. Founded in the 13th century, Torshavn remained a small village for several centuries. Today it is now home to a third of the islands population. Late afternoon sailing.

Day 5 At Sea
A full day at sea to spend as you choose, perhaps relax with a good book or enjoy the onboard facilities.

Day 6 – 7 Reykjavik, Iceland
Two full days in Reykjavik, the most northerly capital city in the world. Here we suggest a spectacular optional excursion that will take you to many of the scenic natural wonders for which Iceland is justly renowned. You will visit the Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and for centuries the site of the Old Icelandic Parliament. You then continue to the mighty Gulfoss – the ‘Golden Waterfall’ – and to the Geysir area where hot springs abound and the mighty Strokur spouts every few minutes. After lunch in a local restaurant you make your way back to Reykjavík where you will have a short stop at Hellisheidi Power Plant. Once you arrive back in the capital you visit The Pearl – a dome of glass built on top of hot water storage tanks. You return to Black Watch and the rest of the time in Reykjavik is at leisure, or you may wish to join another of the many optional excursions available. We sail in the late afternoon of Day 7.

Days 8 Isafjordur, Iceland
Isafjordur is the capital of West Fjords and home to some of Iceland’s oldest and best-preserved buildings, dating from the 18th century. The town is still predominantly a fishing centre and well known for its rich cultural life, with music and visual arts having long tradition and firm roots in the town’s history. Most attractions are within a short walking distance including the Westfjords Maritime Museum, the Old Town with narrow streets and modest 19th century houses.

Day 9 Husavik, Iceland
Early morning arrival in the pretty fishing town,Husavik, on the northern coast of Iceland and being just south of the Arctic Circle it enjoys almost 24 hours of daylight in summer. Husavik was the first place in Iceland to offer whale watching cruises and since then it has been many tourists’ sole purpose for visiting the town and is now considered the “whale watching capital of Europe”. To learn more about these amazing creatures of the sea, the award winning Whale Centre is a great place to visit.

Day 10 At Sea
A full day at sea to do as you please, why not indulge in the fine cuisine and take in a show.

Day 11 Måloy, Norway
Early afternoon arrival in Maloy, a lively coastal town and an important fishing port for the region. Originally Maloy was settled on a smaller island and as it grew it was relocated to the bigger island of Vagsoy. It was on this bigger island that the Germans built a fortress during World War II and became a German stronghold until Operation Archery, a British raid on the German troops stationed on the island. Today there is a monument in the town square dedicated to those who died. Late night sailing.

Day 12 Olden, Norway
Braemar arrives this morning into the picturesque village of Olden, situated at the tip on the innermost arm of the Nordfjord, where steep mountains tower over both sides of the valley. A choice of optional shore excursions will be available, including the opportunity to take a hike up a track that ascends high above a waterfall to observe the range of blues and turquoises that the ice of the Briksdal Glacier reflects. Late afternoon sailing.

Day 13 Bergen Norway
Morning arrival in the ‘City of the Seven Hills’.Bergen has a relaxed atmosphere, stunning setting and vibrant cultural life. Picturesque medieval houses line cobbled streets full of colonnaded shops and lively cafes. Time ashore to stroll around the old harbour’s famous Bryggen quayside, or to visit the town of Troldhaugen that gave Grieg so much inspiration for his haunting melodies. A selection of optional excursions will be available, including sightseeing by boat or seaplane before our ship sails this afternoon.

Day 14 At Sea
A final indulgent day onboard as we sail home.
