The island is covered with a lush tropical rainforest full of exotic flora and fauna and thriving wildlife. A trip to Grand Etang Forest Reserve is easy and from here you can take a short walk and admire one of the many impressive waterfalls, or tuck the plunge with a quick dip in the pure fresh mountain waters. At the peak of the island is an extinct volcano, which has now formed a crater lake. The views from here are stunning and you are likely to catch a glimpse of the native monkeys playing in the trees amongst colourful bird–life.
