Martinique Travel Guide

Martinique is a Caribbean island, located in the heart of the Caribbean, in the Caribbean Sea, north of St. Lucia and south of Dominica. Its eastern coastline borders the Atlantic Ocean while its western coast is flanked by the Caribbean Sea. Martinique is an overseas department of France and retains both French and Caribbean culture.

Martinique is a magical island, boasting picturesque volcanic landscape, encircled by a coastline of fine black, white or peppered sand beaches. It is renowned as the Flower of the Caribbean, characterized by its rugged mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and forests. Martinique has a total area of 425 square miles, and is home to the still–active volcano, Mount. Pelee. The north is characterized by dense forests, rivers and waterfalls. In the centre, the Lamentin Plain transitions to the souths gentler and geologically older landscape of rolling hills. The southern coast is dotted with many picturesque bays and coves.
