Day 1 : Fly to Colombo

Fly overnight to Colombo.

Day 2 : Transfer to Negombo

On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Negombo, near Colombo. The rest of the day is yours to explore.

Day 3 : Discover Negombo

Tour Negombo, a city filled with Dutch and Portuguese colonial buildings. Visit the fish auctions, followed by the Dutch Fort and a local Catholic Church. Later, depart for the most celebrated of all Sri Lanka’s ancient cities, Anuradhapura.

Day 4 : Anuradhapura

Early this morning, visit the 2nd century Ruvaneliseya Dagoba and the sacred Bo Tree. Depart for the untouched beauty of the Jaffna Peninsula.

Day 5 : Explore Jaffna Peninsula

Visit the ancient port of Dambakola Patuna, then drive to Keeramallai town, site of the holy bathing ponds. Later visit pristine Casuarina Beach and make a photo stop at Point Pedro. Return to Jaffna to visit the Nallura Kandaswamy Kovil Temple for the evening Puja ceremony.

Day 6 : Travel to Sigiriya

Tour the Jaffna markets before visiting the Iranamadu Tank. Continue to Sigiriya.

Day 7 : Lion Rock Fortress

Travel to Sri Lanka’s medieval capital, UNESCO listed Polonnaruwa. Tour the ruins of the Royal Palace and the Gal Vihara Temple, then return to Sigiriya and climb the 5th Century Lion Rock Fortress.

Day 8 : Kantale Tank & Trincomalee

Visit the ancient reservoir of Kantale Tank, which supports a variety of b ird life, the local fishing industry, and is home to many herds of elephants. Continue to the beachside town of Trincomalee.

Day 9 : Whale Watching, Trincomalee

Embark on a morning whale watching tour (May-Nov, weather permitting) beginning at Foul Point and sailing south. Later, visit the Koneswaram Kovil pilgrimage site. Continue to Kanniyai Hot Springs followed by the Velgam Vehera Temple and the surrounding ancient ruins.

Day 10 : Dambulla Rock Temple

Travel to Dambulla and tour the 3rd Century Dambulla Rock Temple. Continue to Kandy. In the evening, watch a cultural dance performance before dinner.

Day 11 : Explore Kandy

Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of the most revered Buddhist sites in the world. Enjoy a city tour of Kandy. In the afternoon, visit the Aboriginal tribe at Mahiyangana where you can speak with the village leader, learn about their way of life and tour the local temple.

Day 12 : Colonial Nuwara Eliya

Travel to Nanu Oya by train, passing through the mountains. Upon arrival, transfer to Nuwara Eliya and tour a local tea plantation. The afternoon is free at your leisure to explore the gardens.

Day 13 : Journey to Colombo

Drive to Colombo. Upon arrival, tour the Fort District, surrounding merchant streets, Pettah Market, a local Hindu temple and Kelaniya Buddhist Temple.

Day 14 : Explore Colombo

Take a city tour of Colombo visiting the Dutch Church of Wolfendhall, Davatagaha Mosque, Colombo Museum and the Natural History Museum.

Day 15 : Fly Colombo to UK

Fly to the UK, arriving home later the same or following day.
