Out Of Africa – Kichwa Tembo Bateleur

This safari offers an incredible journey into the more remote parts of Samburu and the Mara, and includes unique lodges with great character inspired by travellers of old.

On arrival in Kenya you will stay in Giraffe Manor which is thirty minutes from the centre of Nairobi and surrounded by 140 acres of its own park and forest. Here you can feed and photograph giraffes at close range.

The next stop is the delightful Elephant Bedroom Camp in Samburu. It is a small and exclusive camp of 12 luxury tents – all furnished in rustic African style. Herds of elephants, prides of lions or the solitary leopard amongst other animals are close by, providing excellent game viewing.

Onto the Masai Mara to Kichwa Tembo Bateleur Camp which offers full board, soft drinks, beer, house wine and laundry. Bateleur Camp also offers refreshments on game drives.

DAY 1 DAILY HEATHROW – NAIROBI
Fly from Heathrow overnight to Nairobi.

DAY 2 NAIROBI
On arrival transfer to the Somak Safari Lounge or directly to Giraffe Manor (check in from 11am onwards) for a day at leisure. Overnight: Giraffe Manor. (l,d)

DAY 3 SAMBURU
Fly by light aircraft to Samburu National Reserve (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes) and transfer to Elephant Bedroom Camp. After lunch at the camp enjoy a late afternoon game drive. Overnight: Elephant Bedroom Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 4 SAMBURU
Early morning and late afternoon game drives enable you to see wildlife unique to this arid, yet beautiful part of Kenya. Overnight: Elephant Bedroom Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 5 MASAI MARA
Fly by light aircraft to Masai Mara Game Reserve (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes) and transfer to Kichwa Tembo Bateleur Camp. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive in the reserve which is the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem. Overnight: &Beyond Bateleur Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 6 MASAI MARA
Take an early morning balloon safari over the Mara followed by a ‘bubbly’ bush breakfast (optional extra) or a game drive followed by breakfast at the camp. Rest of the morning at leisure. After lunch enjoy a late afternoon game drive. Overnight: &Beyond Bateleur Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 7 MASAI MARA
Early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the camp. Rest of the morning at leisure. After lunch enjoy a late afternoon game drive. Overnight: &Beyond Bateleur Camp. (b,l,d)

DAY 8 EXTENSION OR HEATHROW
Fly by light aircraft to Nairobi (approximately 1 hour). Proceed with your chosen extension or return to Heathrow. (b)

Option to fly from the Mara to Mombasa on day 8 (includes lunch in the Mara) – prices on request.

Flights are in light aircraft and the baggage allowance is strictly 15 kg per person. Where possible, additional luggage can be left at your hotel or at the Somak Safari Lounge and retrieved after the safari. Transfers and game drives will be provided by the lodge or camp.

This safari is offered on a daily basis so no allocation is held and all services are subject to availability. If any element is not available, we will suggest the best available alternative.

Children under 5 are not permitted to participate in game drives, (shorter game drives can be arranged locally).
