Paris & Normandy

Day 1 London, Paris
Begin with Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service® to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport for your scheduled British Airways or another leading airline flight to Paris. Meet your Uniworld representative on arrival and transfer to the port to embark the River Baroness.

Day 2 Les Andelys – Rouen
Included Excursion: A visit to the castle of Richard I
We take you back to the fantastic life of King Richard I, more commonly known as Richard the Lionheart. You will have the chance to explore the grounds of his Chateau-Gaillard (well fortified castle), which overlooks the Seine and Les Andelys. Captain’s Welcome Dinner this evening.

Day 3 – Rouen (Normandy Beaches)
The choice is yours:
Included Excursion: Full-day tour to the Normandy Beaches with D-Day Invasion museum at Arromanches (lunch not provided)
Alternative Excursion: Full-day tour to the Normandy Beaches with Bayeux Tapestry Museum (lunch not provided)

You will spend the day at the beaches of Normandy – famously the site of the D-Day Invasion by the Allied Forces during World War II. You will also visit the allied landing site of Mulberry Harbour at Arramanches and the allied landing sites at Omaha, a feat of military engineering with remnants that can still be viewed today.

Day 4 Rouen
Included Excursion:Walking Tour of Rouen
Today, we travel back to the Middle Ages on a visit to the well-preserved city of Rouen, best known as the site where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431. Our visit to Rouen will take you to the stunning Romanesque Cathedral of Rouen, painted so vividly by Monet, the haunting Medieval quarter with its half-timbered, glazed-tile houses, the Vieux Marche – site of Joan of Arc’s punishment for her defiance, and the Gros Horloge, a Renaissance clock tower that arches overhead.

Day 5 Caudebec-en-Caux (Honfleur)
Included Excursion: Visit to Honfleur
Honfleur is a charming French Harbour town favoured by artists such as Gustave Courbet and Claude Monet, who painted its fishing boats and slate-covered houses, among other picturesque vistas that have changed little over time. You will see for yourself as we take you on a walking tour from the former smuggler’s Harbour of Vieux Bassin, the most often painted scene in Honfleur where the fishing village backdrop is seemingly unchanged from over 100 years ago, through the pedestrian streets, lined with artists workshops, to the medieval town centre.

Day 6 Vernon (Giverny)
Included Excursion: Monet’s Giverny*
Visit Monet’s home in his beloved village of Giverny. The unique light of the area’s Seine River Valley in Normandy kept Monet in residence for 43 years, until his death in 1926. Explore Monet’s house, furnished as it was when the leader of the Impressionist School lived here, including his precious collection of Japanese engravings. Strolling the gardens, you will see the familiar Japanese bridge and Water Garden shaded by weeping willows, with its pond still full of water lilies that so inspired this Master’s
work. Captain’s Farewell Dinner this evening.

Day 7 – Paris
The choice is yours:
Included Excursion: Montmartre Village tour
Alternative Excursion: Heart of Paris walking tour or Paris panoramic city tour
Paris, one of the most beautiful and stunningly attractive cities in the world, is yours to explore. Following the footsteps of a horde of street entertainers, climb the picturesque little hill crowned by the Sacré Coeur, surrounded by a labyrinth of extraordinary little streets, a vineyard and a windmill. Fabulous views over the rooftops of Paris, amazing crowds and tranquil spots. Fabulous destinies are set in the village from Toulouse Lautrec, Utrillo to Amélie.

Day 8 Paris, London
Disembark the ship and transfer to Paris Airport for your British Airways or another leading airline flight home. Arrive at London Heathrow or Gatwick where our staff will meet you and our transport will transfer you to your own front door.
