Texas Ranger with New Mexico & Arizona

Day 1 London – Houston
We begin with the Titan’s VIP Home Departure Service® to London Heathrow Airport and your scheduled British Airways flight to Houston. On arrival we transfer to the Sheraton Suites Hotel.

Day 2 Houston – San Antonio
This morning we visit Space Center Houston, an extraordinary journey into the past, present and future of NASA’s incredible manned space flight programme. Later in the day we travel on to San Antonio and the Holiday Inn Hotel. This evening you are free to become acquainted with this exciting and picturesque city.

Day 3 San Antonio
A free day to explore the town with its strong Spanish influence and to perhaps visit the Alamo where Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and Colonel Travis fought to the death. Time to explore the many restaurants, market-places and speciality boutiques which stretch along the tree-lined walkway of the River Walk – the focal point of the city.

Day 4 San Antonio – Dallas
Our journey north takes us to the charming old frontier town of Salado, whose main street still has a 19th century sleepy charm, before continuing on to Dallas. This vibrant and progressive city offers a unique blend of Southwestern charm and cosmopolitan flair. Our hotel for the next two nights is the Hotel Indigo.

Day 5 Dallas
Our morning tour takes us to Pioneer Plaza, Arts District, Historic West End and Dealy Plaza, concluding with a visit to the Sixth Floor Exhibit in the former Texas School Book Depository, from which Lee Harvey Oswald is alleged to have fired the shots which killed President John F. Kennedy. Later we visit the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards with their many landmark buildings, shops and restaurants.

Day 6 Dallas – Amarillo
Today we leave the big city behind and travel through the vast open plains of the Texas Panhandle. On the way we pass through many small towns that have sprung up due to cattle ranching, farming, natural gas and the discovery of oil or “black gold” as it became known. We arrive later in Amarillo an “old west” town rich in history, whose name, meaning yellow in Spanish, derives from the colour of the subsoil found here. Our hotel is the Ambassador Hotel.

Day 7 Amarillo
This morning we visit the fascinating Panhandle Plains Museum that depicts the history of the northwest from 400 million years ago through to the mid 20th century. Its exhibits range from geology, the culture of the local Indians, ranching and the history of the petroleum, oil and gas industries. The museum also holds a reconstruction of a pioneer town, which was re-created using original log cabins as well as an extensive collection of western artefacts. After lunch we continue to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, the second largest canyon in the United States and have time to view the extraordinary vistas of colour and beauty. Later we return to Amarillo for some free time to explore.

Day 8 Amarillo – Albuqerque
We continue our tour today to the state of New Mexico and Albuquerque, one of the oldest cities in the US, dating back to 1706 when a small farming community settled on the Rio Grande. It enjoys a pleasant climate, located in the shadows of the majestic Sandia Mountains and prides itself on the warmth of the welcome it gives to visitors. We take a brief orientation tour before checking into our hotel, The Best Western Rio Grande, conveniently located close to the Old Town area.

Day 9 Albuquerque
Today is free to explore at your leisure. There are many museums, galleries and shopping opportunities to be discovered as well as the Old Town Plaza, located in the heart of the city’s heritage area.

Day 10 Albuquerque – Flagstaff
Travelling west into Arizona today we visit the Petrified Forest National Park. Here the remains of an ancient forest lies scattered across northeastern Arizona. Fossils of tall trees, large reptiles and early dinosaurs provide clues to life 225 million years ago. The Park incorporates a section of the massive Painted Desert, a vast expanse of badland hills, flat-topped mesas and towering buttes. Here a rainbow of colourful rock layers is exposed in this austere landscape. We continue west to Flagstaff, at the base of Mount Humphreys and nestled among the largest stand of ponderosa pines in the United States. Our hotel is the Courtyard by Marriott.

Day 11 Grand Canyon
A visit to the Grand Canyon must surely be one of the most awe-inspiring sights in the world. Level upon level of rocks form intricate shapes and beautiful sculptures and far below, almost a mile in fact, you may catch a glimpse of a silvery streak which is the mighty Colorado River. Later in the day we return to our hotel at Flagstaff.

Day 12 Flagstaff – Scottsdale
This morning we travel south and pass through Oak Creek Canyon and view the craggy peaks of red sandstone before arriving in the artist colony of Sedona set amid rugged countryside. Continuing south we arrive at Scottsdale, nestled between the Arizona desert and mountains. Our hotel for the next two nights is the Hilton Garden Inn.

Day 13 Scottsdale
A day to relax and enjoy the superb climate and dazzling surroundings of Scottsdale, known as “The Valley of the Sun”. A golfer’s paradise, this wealthy city offers a range of sporting and cultural activities, including galleries of the worlds great art and a dazzling array of fine shops in plazas. Today, the canal system which was created more than a thousand years ago by Hohokam Indians winds through the city – a reminder of the centuries past where Spanish, Mexican and Anglo- American cultures joined to produce a unique blend. Many optional excursions are available (bookable at your hotel) to further explore a land where towering Saguaro Cacti overlook the pristine mountain foothills and cottonwood trees and lush flowers dot the terrain.

Day 14 Scottsdale – London
Today we transfer to Phoenix Airport for our direct scheduled British Airways flight to London Heathrow. Extend your stay – call for details.

Day 15 London
Arrival at London Heathrow Airport where our staff will greet you and transfer you to Titan’s transport for your journey home to your own front door.
